Arts and Crafts!

I'm kinda obsessed with all things Bohemian. Also, I thought it would be fun to make a craft tonight. I'm making a Hippy Headband and it is like, ridiculously easy. One time I made one of these to wear about 5 minutes before I had to leave for work. Obviously this was before I shaved half of my hair off. They look sorta weird on me now. After work I went to Hobby Lobby and pick up my supplies...

I got some soft suede laces in brown and teal, some round leather laces in brown, and some beads I liked.

For the first headband, I put the brown suede and the brown round laces together, made them even, and hooked them around my toe like this...

Yes, I am aware that this is weird. But it makes these even easier for me to make. If you find a faster, easier, less awkward way to do this, have at it!

I then tie all of the laces in a knot, so you've made a little loop around your toe. We are going to braid this one so your three strands should be: one suede lace, two round laces, and one suede lace. Ready, set, BRAID!
Every so often (I like them to be random) I would stop and string one of my turquoise beads on one of the round laces and then continue braiding...
When I got to the point where I had enough braid to cover my big head, I tied all the laces together in a knot. With the loose ends I strung some more beads and tied a knot to hold them in place...

Easy-peasy, huh?! I like the ends to hang down on one side of my head (usually the side that I part on). I pull the ends through the loop and gently knot it once. Don't pull too tightly or the hair will smoosh up weirdly and you'll look like you're trying to squeeze your brains out.

Jace wanted to throw up a peace sign and I didn't plan for her to wear that ugly tie-dyed shirt but it works. Kinda. (She wanted me to add that she had just come home from working out. So don't judge her)

This is the other one I made with the just the teal suede. I did the same thing with my toe only I just loosely twisted the two strands together and knotted it. I put some black beads on the bottom...

I think I like the brown one better but the teal and blck look cool together. Maybe I'll put somemore stuff on it so its fancier. You could also throw some feathers on to dangle down, that would be cute.

Peace out!

Headband Do's

-This would look awesome with Beachy Waves or Curling Rod Curls

-Make sure you have beads that will fit on your laces!

Headband Don'ts

-Don't use beads that are too heavy or it will keep drooping to one side

-Don't Whip You Hair Back and Forth. Eye injuries are no laughing matter.

-Don't be afraid to look a little hippy. That being said...

-Don't smell like a hippy.
