It's Your Lucky Day!

There will be NO pictures of me in this post!

I was on the VIP list of many social events being held Saturday night but I couldn't decide which to attend! So, as not to offend anyone, I decided to go to none of them. Instead, I'm going to show you one of the many ways I do a curl with a flat iron. FUN!SO, to start- Jacie has clean, freshly washed hair. This is not ideal. For the curls to last longer and the volume to stay in, I recommend second day hair.

These are the products I used...

I do this in sections no thicker than the width of my flat iron. Which is a GHD, by the way. I LOVE it. CHI can suck it! If you have the way and means to get your hands on a GHD, do it! You will not be disappointed. Here is my starting section...

I spray every section with a heat protecting or a light hold hairspray to give it some stick. OH! and to protect your hair or whatever... All I had at the house was Spray & Play by Big and Sexy Hair. Not my first pick, its a little too much but it will do.

Then I pick up my first piece and put it in the flat iron like so....

Turn the flat iron a HALF a turn...

and pull straight down. DO NOT keep turning the flat iron. Make sure the hair stays between the plates. Your curl will look like this...

Use a comb to tease each section near the root for volume. If you try to tease it after you curl it, bad things will happen. In the form of your hair will be a mess. Now, when you're done with the curls, You can do the bangs a couple of ways. Leave the straight(not my favorite), give them a bend under and blend them into the curls, or how I did Jacie's. I curled them tightly and then spread them out a little and hair sprayed them in place. Now, your going to want to run your fingers through this and separate some of the curls, blend the bangs in, what not. BEFORE you do this, you need to put some product on your hands! You don't need very much but it will keep your hair from becoming frizzy when you touch it. I use an oil like Soy Renewal by Big and Sexy Hair. I also like Moroccan Oil or De frizz by Bumble and bumble. This will also make your hair shiny! Just don't use too much.

Give your hair a spray of a hard hold hairspray ( I used All Nighter by Big and Sexy. Anyone else sensing a pattern? hmmm) AND...you're done!

So, you say you like your curls softer? Fine then! Take a brush and gently brush out your curls, starting at the neck line. DON'T brush out your teasing. Then use your product covered hands to smooth out your hair and reform the curls by hand. Use the tail of your comb to fluff up your teasing. It should look like this...

I swept the hair over her shoulder and pinned one side up because I like how it looks. You, obviously, don't have to do that.

Curl Away!

Curl Do's

  • The closer to the plate you hold the flat iron, the tighter your curls will be.

  • The wider section of hair you take, the looser your curl will be.

  • When the hair first comes out of the flat iron, twist it with your fingers so it maintains its shape while it cools.

Curl Don'ts

  • Don't be afraid of volume people

  • That being said, looking like Snooki? Big Not Cute.
