What I wish every week was like...

So I pretty much had the best week ever! Its felt like I am living in Music/Hair Heaven! My parents are awesome and got me tickets to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for my birthday! I don't know how many of you know this, but I am obsessed with Tom Petty. The closest venue he was playing at was in Colorado. My brother and I road tripped it over there on Tuesday to see the opening night of his tour on Wednesday. It was amazing! Chase is the best brother ever for coming with me. Love you Buddy! Another awesome thing that happened last week? My college Bestie, Steph, came to see me at my parent's house! We colored her hair and hung out with my mama and the dogs. She has been rockin' the brown to blonde ombre and decided this time she wanted to do it in red! It turned out way pretty...
To round out my Week of Awesomeness, I had not one but TWO girls come in for Prom styles! This is Sydnee and she was ALL about the poof! Girl after my own heart, I tell ya...

This turned out so good! When she made the appointment, she just wanted curls but at the last minute changed her mind. I was, of course, happy to oblige! Next we have Mary-Kate...

JK! Different Mary Kate! Although I did get a kick out of thinking about funny Very Mary Kate jokes to myself all morning...

I hope the girls had fun at Prom! Mary Kate told me she was a "crazy dancer" which made me concernicus. I set my hairspray and bobby pinning abilities to Drag Queen Mode and went to work! If that didn't hold it, I don't know what will!

Like I said, awesome week! I will be making an announcement tomorrow. 90% of my viewers already know what it is but its nice to make a formal statement or whatever, ya know? I like to be official like that.

Who wants a make over?

Its been a rough weekend, folks! Alotta hair was done (and re-done, in the case of my sister) and some miles were put on old ChiChi (my car, she is Latina). I did some Prom hair and make up and started the process of taking Jackie from red to blond. If you do hair, you know how stressful this can be! We are on the right track though.
I was in desperate need of some new makeup so Jacie, Gooch and I took a little jaunt to Sephora in Ogden. I bought quite a few things but here are my favorite two...

Eyeshadow Primer Potion by Urban Decay


I've had this before but ran out and never got around to buying more. I love it! They have changed the packaging, which I actually like better. Its a squeeze tube instead of having a wand. I got the kind that is flesh-toned but they also make different colors. Apply this to your eyelids before any thing else and you wont believe how long your eye makeup stays on!!

They have a few different palettes like this and I had the hardest time deciding! Gooch had to help me out. If I were made of money, I would have sawed off a finger and bought them all! But alas, I'm made of flesh and bone and I doubt limbs transfer in currency. I haven't tried these colors out yet but I can't wait!! Maybe tomorrow is the day...Look out Monday clients, eyeshadow model coming through!

Formal Styles

I just realized the other night that its coming on Prom season! I LOVE doing hair for formal occasions. My own Jr. Prom hair was just curly and by the time I was a Senior I had chin length hair. I feel like this is my way to live vicariously through my clients. Whenever I have a girl come into the salon going to a dance, I tell her the nightmare that was my Senior Ball. If you want to hear about an awesomely horrific date, I'll tell you sometime. Lets just say it involves a corsage I had to scrape off the road, a car accident and a girl puking in the back seat on the way home. Among many, many other bad things that happened that night.

So, I thought I'd share some of the formal styles I've done through the years and some style I've found that inspire me!
