Today

So, I just deleted a half a page worth of writing. Why? My mood changed half way through. What can I say? I'm a fickle girl. A regular Scarlet O'Hara, this one. I have the poster to prove it...

Like that shot? I didn't even bother to get off the couch to capture that one. I got my poster from Aunt Lynnie, who knows how long ago, but it follows me wherever I go. It resides next to a framed Casablanca post card and my James Dean picture from Gooch. Its a good corner of my house.

Back to my point...if I ever had one. I was waxing all rhapsodic about the what a great day I had today and how it makes up for any of the negative aspects of my job. Like how some days I feel like I have no clue what the hell I am doing. But then I look at my work and see how much I am bettering myself as a stylist and makeup artist everyday...

and I realize how lucky I am to make a living doing what I love!

To sum up all of my feelings today, I'll just leave you with this...
Y'all have a good night, ya hear?

Pretty!

I love this! Sometimes I wish I had long hair. Except mine is the big NC when its long. I'm not sure what to call this little 'do yet. If you think of something good, let me know!
To begin, Jacie's hair was just down and straight. This would still look really pretty if your hair was curly/wavy! I took a small section of hair just behind her bangs and split it in two. I then crossed one section over the other and, pulling from the bottom, added hair to the bottom section....

I kept twisting and adding more hair in between each twist. I did this until had I gone roughly half way around. I then twisted the two strands down so I had a twisted pigtail...

I put a ponytail at the end just to hold it in. If your hair model isn't busy doing 'homework', she could probably just hold onto it for you. Now repeat with the other side...

I wrapped the pigtails around one another and then coiled them into a bun at the nape of Jacie's neck. I pinned it in place, tucking any loose ends away (it only took about 4 pins!).

I hair sprayed the whole thing with some Spray and Play by Big and Sexy and I was done! Swanky lookin' huh?!

This could totally be a bridal up do with a little tweaking! Me and Jace did a few styles today so there is a lot more where that came from!

Tomorrow IS another day, ( Get it, Aunt Lynnie?!)

Formal Styles

I just realized the other night that its coming on Prom season! I LOVE doing hair for formal occasions. My own Jr. Prom hair was just curly and by the time I was a Senior I had chin length hair. I feel like this is my way to live vicariously through my clients. Whenever I have a girl come into the salon going to a dance, I tell her the nightmare that was my Senior Ball. If you want to hear about an awesomely horrific date, I'll tell you sometime. Lets just say it involves a corsage I had to scrape off the road, a car accident and a girl puking in the back seat on the way home. Among many, many other bad things that happened that night.

So, I thought I'd share some of the formal styles I've done through the years and some style I've found that inspire me!

This is my Stephy! I did her hair and makeup for her wedding...

I also did my sister, Jackie's hair for her wedding. I don't have a ton of picture that really show her hair well but this one is cute...

My friend Kailey...

Here is the style I put up on my first blog post...

Here are some styles I've been seeing lately that I think are pretty BA...

I'm only putting this picture of Blake Lively up because I like her hair. Other than that, I dislike her. (Bitch keeps dating my boyfriends!)

In case you cant tell, I love braids. I just like how soft and feminine they are! If anyone in Coalville or Cache Valley would like to schedule an appointment with me, post a comment or send me a message on facebook! I'd love to do your hair!

See ya tomorrow!
